Abstract

The methanol soluble part and the concentrated ethanol extract of the seeds of the plant Cochlospermum religiosum, were subjected to various colour reactions and chemical degradations, UV, IR, 1H NMR and mass spectroscopic analyses identified the constituent as 5, 7, 3
, 4
-tetrahydroxy-3- methoxy-flavone-7-O--D-glucopyranosyl-(14)-O--D-galactopyranoside.
