Abstract
Asimple and efficient procedure for the synthesis of 4-Arylidene-2-phenyl- 5(4)-oxazolones (Azlactone) derivatives through the condensation of aromatic aldehydes and hippuric acid in acetic unhydride medium at 70°C is described. The reaction goes smoothly. Simple experimental procedure, easy work- up and good yield of the products are the advantages of the present work.
