Abstract

Prepared 1-disubstituted and tetra cyclic -Carbolines from easily available starting material tryptophan. The basic skeleton present in our isolated compounds is interesting, as some biologically active compounds possess this skeleton. The compounds are screened for their antibacterial activity.
