Abstract

Antimony(III) sulfate was first used as a solid acidic catalyst for the synthesis of xanthenedione derivatives through the condensation reaction between aromatic aldehydes and dimedone. This method provides several advantages such as high yields, simple operation and short reaction time. As antimony(III) sulfate is an inexpensive recyclable catalyst, this synthesis is an eco-friendly reaction.
