Abstract
Efficacy of Irrigation in Elective,Instrumented Spinal Fusions Causes of postoperative spinal surgery infections (POSSI) are multifactorial and related to both patient and procedural influences. Because of these omplexities,predictable infection rates likely exist that do not extrapolate to 0%.There has been no study that has proven that lack of irrigation,antibiotic laden or otherwise, increases the risk of postoperative infection in elective spine surgery.
