Abstract

The consensus is that degenerative disc disease (DDD), especially in its severe form, plays a key role in the etiology of a large assortment of symptomatic disorders of the spine, among which are herniation of the nucleus pulposus, discogenic pain, loss of disc height, loss of segmental mobility, development of osteophytes along the spine, myelopathy, radiculopathy, myeloradiculopathy, and traumatic instability at one or more levels .
