Abstract

‘Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food’ Hippocrates c. 400BC An upsurge in the use of drugs for treating anxiety and depression has been observed worldwide. The adverse side effects of the said drugs called for a need to discover alternative approaches. Studies on nutritional therapy for anxiety and depression emerged rapidly in the last few years. Alteration in dietary habits in consultation with nutritionist may help reducing these mood disorders. Previous studies have reported several nutritional elements beneficial for mental health and some other harmful for mental health.
