Abstract

In this, the electrochemical treatment of olive oil mill wastewater OMW using different anode materials: iron, stainless steel, boron doped diamond and SnO2 is investigated. Total discoloration of OMW solution is obtained by electro-coagulation using both iron and stainless steel anodes but only 65 % of chemical oxygen demand (COD) content is removed. However, electrochemical oxidation on boron doped diamond leads to the total mineralization of OMW solution. SnO2 anodic oxidation achieves only 40% of COD because of the deactivation of the electrode.
