Abstract
Electro-kinetic parameters of methanol electrooxidation on to Pt surface have been reported in surfactant environment. Analysis of these parameters show that deprotonation and adsorption of MeOH on to electrode surface are the key factors which control the oxidation kinetics. Present findings are in conformity with the conclusion of Xing et al, who proposed that de protonation and MeOH adsorption are RDS of MeOH electrooxidation. Again it is seen that both oxidation potential and decrease in the peak current are function of surfactant concentration.
