Abstract
Synthesis of eight substituted chalcones using basic heterogeneous catalyst anhydrous K 2 CO 3 under MWI was carried out to improve Claisen–Schmid t condensation reaction. A comparative aspect of different compounds in respect of catalyst, time taken and per cent of yield has been discussed. The advantages of this process is to design and develop new synthetic routes to various bioactive chalcone, which is environmentally desirable and economically viable. The structures of all the compounds have been established by spectral analysis such as IR, 1 H-NMR, 13 C-NMR and mass spectrometry. The synthesized compounds were also used for antimicrobial screening.
