Abstract

The Bristol Royal InŽ rmary Inquiry and The NHS Plan commit the NHS to provide services that are ‘patient-centred’. New patient and public involvement structures include patient forums and the Independent Complaints Advocacy Services (ICAS) under the auspices of the Commission for Patient  and Public Involvement in Health. Patient forums will monitor healthcare from the perspective of the patient
