Abstract

Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) have been found to be very effective in treatment of wastewater containing the various hazardous organic pollutants. Photocatalytic degradation of orange II dye in the presence of an aqueous heterogeneous suspension of ZnO irradiated with visible light has been investigated. The degradation of the dyes under investigation depends on various parameters such as catalyst amount, dye concentration, pH, addition of hydrogen peroxide, Na2CO3, NaCl and effect of light intensity. The complete degradation of dye was tested using the chemical oxygen demand (COD) method and UV spectrophotometer.
