Abstract
Purpose: To report the novel use of photodynamic therapy (PDT) in a case of retinal arterial macroaneurysm (RAM).Design: Interventional case report. Methods: In the setting of institutional practice, a 76-year male patient presented with rapidly progressive vision loss in his left eye due to RAM. Three treatments of PDT were administered over 6 months. Results: The patient’s macroaneurysm regressed both clinically and angiographically during and following treatment with PDT.Discussion: Our experience, albeit limited, nonetheless suggests that PDT may be a useful adjunct to current practice in the management of RAM, and certainly warrants more formal study.
