Study of acoustical parameter of Schiff base and its Fe(III) metal complex by ultrasonic technique

M. P. Wadekar

Abstract

Ultrasonic velocity, viscosity and density have been measured in non- aqueous solution of the synthesized ligands viz. (Z)-2-(furan-2-yl)methyleneamino)benzoic acid (FMBA) and their metal complex of Fe(III) inDMSO at 306K. From the experimental data, various acoustical parameters such as adiabatic compressibility(bs),relative association(RA), specific acoustic impedance (Z), free path length(Lf), relaxation amplitude(a/f2), relaxation time(t) , relative viscosity(È r) etc. have been evaluated for a system of different concentration, which helps in understanding the molecular interactions occurring in these solutions. The results have been discussed in the lightof solvent interaction and structure effecting metal complexes.
