Synthesis and antimicrobial activity of 5-{4'-[(3''-aryl)-2''propene-1''-one]phenylcarbamido}/5-{4'-[(5''-aryl)-isoxazole-3''yl]- phenylcarbamido}-dibenz[b,f]-azepines

Abstract

5-{4'-[(3''-aryl)-2'' propene-1''-one] phenyl carbamido}-dibenz [b,f] azepines (3a–3n); 5-{4'-[(5''-aryl)-isoxazole-3''- yl] phenyl carbamido}-dibenz [b,f] azepines (4a-4n) have been synthesised. The products have been assayed for their antimicrobial activities. Some of the products showed moderate activity in comparisonwith known standard drugs viz ampicillin, chloramphenical, norfloxacin and greseofulvin at same concentration 50 g/ml. The constitutions of the products have been characterized by IR, 1H NMR, Mass spectral studies and elemental analysis.
