Abstract

Two newwater-solublemixed ligand of[Pd(bpy)(L)]Cl2 and[Ag(bpy)(L)]NO3 complexes with 2-amino-7-oxo-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophene-3- carbonitrile (L) were synthesised. The composition of the isolated complexes was discussed on the bases of elemental analysis, spectral studies (IR, UV– visible, 13C-NMR and MS), as well as conductivity measurement. The synthesised complexes display a significant anticancer activity against Ehrlich ascites tumour cells (EACs). The higher activity of these complexes with their higher conductivity values corresponds to their complete ionization in aqueous solution.
