Abstract

UO2(VI), Sn(IV), Zr(IV), Th(IV) and Lithium(I) ions were found to form stable complexes with anilinoacetyl-4- chloro-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazide. The complex structure was elucidated by IR, elemental analysis, 1H NMR spectroscopy, molar conductance and thermal analysis. The ligand coordinates to the metal ions as a neutral bidentate except complex of Zr(IV) coordinates as mono basic bidentate, coordinating through nitrogen atom of the N(2)H group, carbonyl oxygen of (C=O) and enolic oxygen in complex of Zr(IV). The data of molar conductance shows that all complexes are non-electrolyte except complex of Th (IV) is electrolyte . Finally, the antibacterial activities of the ligand and their complexes were investigated and some were found promising.
