Synthesizes and antimicrobial evaluation of novel heterocyclic compounds

Abstract

1-(4-aminophenyl)-2-(6,7-dihydrothieno[3,2-c]pyridin-5(4H)-yl)ethanone (1) undergoes facile condensation with aromatic aldehydes to afford the corresponding 1-(4-(substituted arylidene amino) phenyl)-2-(6,7- dihydrothieno[3,2-c]pyridin-5(4H)-yl)ethanone (2a-d) in good yields. Cyclocondensation of compounds (2a-d) with thioglycolic acid yields 3-(4-(2-(6,7-dihydrothieno [3,2-c] pyridin-5(4H)-yl) acetyl) phenyl)-2-substituted aryl thiazolidin -4-one (3a-d). The structures of these compounds were established on the basis of analytical and spectral data. All the newly synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antibacterial and antifungal activities.
