Abstract

At the time macrophages phagocyte against Mycobacterium tuberculosis entry, it occurs respiratory burst, and become the initial formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Reactive oxygen species such as nitric oxide and oxygen radicals kill the mycobacterium bacteria. However, Mycobacterium tuberculosis has an antioxidant that plays a role in redox homeostasis system which protects itself from the attack of oxygen radicals and nitric oxide. We intend to examine the various roles and characteristics of antioxidant for redox homeaostasis control system in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. We have got conclusion there are some antioxidants which protects Mycobacterium tuberculosis from oxidative damage such as KatG, SOD, Mycothiol and thioredoxin.
